CE Ph.D.- Mission, Objectives, Outcomes

Mission Statement:

The Ph.D. in Civil Engineering program prioritizes research, innovation, leadership, teamwork, communication, commercialization, and entrepreneurship in technology-enhanced infrastructure.

Program Educational Objectives:

The Program Educational Objectives of the PhD program are designed to equip graduates with:

  • applied technical knowledge in corresponding areas of CE.
  • skills for conducting cutting-edge research in Technology Enhanced Infrastructure that advances the state-of-the-art in CE.
  • leadership, innovation, communication, and entrepreneurial skills that prepare students to take on challenges in multi-disciplinary and diverse teams of academic and industrial organizations.

Student Outcomes:

Each student is expected to demonstrate:

  • An ability to apply technical knowledge in complementary areas in Civil Engineering to solve civil infrastructure problems.
  • An ability to draft research proposals as well as conduct cutting-edge research that advances the state-of-the-art in TEI in Civil Engineering.
  • An ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, lead independently, and produce innovatively in Civil Engineering and related areas.
