C2.01 Onion Creek Senior Center Expansion

In 2013, the Onion Creek Senior Center opened its doors and has served as a place of community for the senior residents in Buda, Texas. To enhance the accessibility and amenities at the Onion Creek Senior Center, this project aims to develop an expansion of the existing facility. This expansion will include the addition of both a parking lot and a building extension. Our goal is to initiate detailed technical plans and sheets to outline specifications regarding these expansions. We will also explore cost-effective and sustainable practices to maximize the project's longevity without disrupting the site’s natural landscape
C2.02 Runoff Biogarden

The runoff biogarden project will provide a design and a model of a natural and low-cost water relocation system from runoff and rainfall. Crockett Elementary School in San Marcos, Texas is where our proposed project will be located and has clayey soil properties. The chosen location on the property lacks proper water mitigation techniques proving the importance of a runoff biogarden. With the utilization of gravel, mulch, and native plants, this biogarden will reduce water runoff to unwanted nearby areas such as sidewalks and streets. Another objective of the biogarden is to educate individuals of all ages about sustainable infiltration practices to increase the interest in this discrete system.
C2.03 Rural Bridge Improvement Plan

In this comprehensive senior design project, we're planning to create a rural bridge that not only connects communities but also stands resilient against the dynamic challenges posted by surrounding environments. Additionally, choosing the best alternative design to support these communities. With the given budget to the project, we will ensure that that bridge is well designed and sustainable. By delivering a 3D design and a scale model, we will bring the vision of the bridge to life. As we dive into the intricacies of this project, we will explore the fusions of structural engineering principles, environmental principles, and cutting-edge technologies, all aimed at crafting a safe and reliable infrastructure that harmonizes with the environment.
C2.04 Water Supply Project

In 10 years, Hays county has nearly doubled in population. Water demand has increased at a similar rate and without significant expansion, demand would outpace supply in as little as 10 years. The Water Supply Team will design an expansion to the existing system to supplement the current water supply for Hays, Caldwell, and Comal counties with groundwater from from the Carrizo-Wilcox aquifer. Our team will optimize the booster pump station and pipeline design, crossing road, rail and natural obstacles all while conforming to Texas and federal rules and regulations.
C2.05 High-Performance Concrete Box Culvert Bridge

Under TxDOT's sponsorship, we will be conducting a hands on design project regarding a box culvert bridge crossing over an existing creek in Hobson, TX. This project has propelled us into extensive problem solving and design regarding environmental obstacles and TxDOT specifications. At the end of this semester we will have a finalized design and implementation procedure of our bridge, along with a thorough understanding of these processes.
C2.06 Sustainable Biogarden Solutions

Working with the City of San Marcos to develop a Biogarden that will encompass a water treatment method to reduce contamination in stormwater runoff for a residential area. By utilizing natural cleansing properties of plants and soil, green infrastructure promotes sustainable practices. Partnering with the city to innovate San Marcos developments while keeping integrity of local water resources.
C2.07 European Plaza Skate Park

Under the sponsorship of the City of San Marcos, we are excited to design and construct a unique European Plaza Skate Park in the City of San Marcos. Departing from traditional designs, this project integrates European urban aesthetics with cutting-edge skate park features. Through planning and innovative design, we aim to deliver an authentic and engaging recreational space for the community. This project offers valuable insights into San Marcos' infrastructure planning and decision evaluation processes in the recreational area.
