M2.01 - BallCat – Low-Cost Ball Retrieval
BallCat is a low-cost device to retrieve balls.
Sponsor: Hoffmann Lane Elementary
Student Team: Colton Gohlke, Abdullah Jundi, Jameal Shorter, Orlen Zambrano
Faculty Advisor: Dr. Austin Talley
Hoffmann Lane Elementary has a blacktop near their gymnasium that the PE class uses for outdoor activities. The gymnasium has a gutter system on the roof about twenty-one feet in the air. Students that attend the school have either kicked or thrown balls onto the roof and they have rolled down and fallen into the gutter system. The goal of this project is to design and manufacture a tool that can be operated from the ground and used to remove the balls from the gutter. Our team will design a lightweight product that can be utilized by a crew of one to two people to remove the balls or any other obstructions in the gutter.
