M2.01 NXP "El Mandadero"

El Mandadero is a last mile delivery rover that provides the customer a physical modular payload R&D platform and associated reference NXP circuit boards which allows them to experiment with the hardware and software while using a representative robotic system. Our team will be advancing selected physical subsystems of El Mandadero with efficient designs resulting from collected test data, while simultaneously creating a practical manufacturing method of each component. The undertaking of this proposition will include but is not limited to the construction of suspension components, jig/fixture design for part manufacturing, documentation for digital end user assembly guide, and performing limited NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) testing to determine recommendations for improvements.


M2.02 Drone Diagnostics VTOL Platform

Our Team is working to create safety and reliability in the autonomously operating drone fleets of tomorrow. We are developing the supporting infrastructure that any drone must use to operate in the real world. We are designing and fabricating a diagnostic suite for a Vertical Take Off and Landing(VTOL) array. By regularly diagnosing the drone health before take off, we can ensure a fleet's safe flight. Our manufacturing engineering students will be designing and programming force sensor couplings to propellor motors from a fabricated pad using robotic arms, for both static and dynamic flight checks prior to the full release of drones for flight.


M2.03 Bluewater

The BlueWater project is optimizing the efficiency and automation of a DIY FarmBot plantar to demonstrate scalability. The original function of the DIY FarmBot was to grab individual seeds and place them in their designated location one-by-one. Our software team is generating sequences and functions that'll increase the speed of the FarmBot's planting operations and allow easier interactions between the user and the applied web app. Our hardware team has been generating new end effectors and replaceable components that allow the user to perform the various gardening actions required to remotely maintain and operate a garden. Using CAD modeling and 3D printing, we were able to pair with the actuator modification to allow the process of automated seed planting.

Our project is to utilize Solidworks to design and optimize an Atmospheric Water Generation (AWG) test platform using Peltier devices. Multiple configurations and heat transfer mechanisms are to be considered to produce the maximum amount of water using a minimum amount of electrical power. This semester we are focused on fabricating our device based on the work we did in the previous semester. We will be using a combination of machining and 3D printing.
